Bird on endangered species list shot in Long Island park

A yellow-headed heron is recovering after it was shot in the wing by someone in Hewlett Bay Park on Long Island.

The bird, which is an endangered species was brought to Central Veterinary Associates where it went under surgery to have bullet fragments removed.

The staff named the heron Ty, and once he is fully recovered, he will be transferred to a local sanctuary.
