Gov. Quinn declared Wednesday "Wrigley Field Day," calling the ballpark an Illinois landmark and a national treasure. The first ballgame was played at Wrigley Field - then called Weeghman Park - on April 23, 1914.

The festivities for the afternoon game against the Arizona Diamondbacks will include 30,000 retro jersey giveaways, 10,000 birthday cupcakes from Jewel-Osco, special guests and ceremonies.

It is all part of a season-long party celebrating each decade at Wrigley Field throughout the 2014 campaign. Promotional items include historic bobbleheads on Fridays and retro toys on Sundays, when both the Cubs and visiting teams will wear throwback uniforms on the field.

The Cubs are also giving back to the community this season through 100 Gifts of Service, a yearlong program featuring Cubs players, coaches and front office associates engaging in community service projects to celebrate 100 years at Wrigley.
