With only one witness, and so far no solid leads, the NYPD is asking for the public's help to find the person who hit and killed 64-year-old Kumar Ragunath. On Saturday night, officers made their request in neon lights, setting up a digital sign at the intersection where Ragunath was hit.

Ragunath was walking to work when he was hit. Friday night would have been his second night working on his new job at the Holiday Inn in Long Island City. Ragunath was near Northern Boulevard and 40th Road when he was struck by an SUV. The driver of the SUV kept going, leaving Ragunath lying in the middle of the street with severe head trauma and a broken leg. He was briefly placed in a medically induced coma, but later died.

A witness told detectives the person who hit Ragunath was driving a black Chevy Blazer with New York plates, but they could not get the license plate number.

Ragunath was a husband, father of three, and grandfather to six. The family is overwhelmed with grief and are devastated to lose Ragunath. They are hoping the driver of the SUV will come forward and confess, giving them justice and a peace of mind.
