Out of an abundance of caution, the NYPD will have extra police officers stationed at 3 Brooklyn high schools Friday after threats of a shooting surfaced on Facebook Thursday.

Parents of students at Edward R. Murrow, James Madison and Midwood high schools notified police about threats on Facebook of a shooting at the schools Friday.

Sources say the NYPD Intellience Division looked into it and determined they were re-posts of old threats. They do not believe them to be credible at this time.

However, out of an abundance of caution, extra police will be at the schools on Friday.

The interim acting principal at Edward R. Murrow High School sent out a robocall saying in part: "I wanted to take this opportunity to address some of the concerns that you may have regarding some recent posts on facebook that were reported to the administration. Here at Murrow, your child's safety is our top priority. We are working with union officials and NYPD and all appropriate actions have been taken to ensure your child's safety. Please know that we will do everything to ensure your child's safety."
