In a New York Magazine article headlined "Goodbye, Public Life," Baldwin writes he probably can't live in the Big Apple anymore.
A lot of the article deals with comments that Baldwin says were misquoted or misinterpreted.
He writes about being labeled a "homophobic bigot" after his confrontation with a member of the paparazzi and anger over his short-lived talk show.
Baldwin says he realizes he "could have done things differently."
He apologizes if he's "offended anyone along the way."
Baldwin also writes that New York City has become too much like Los Angeles.
"I probably have to move out of New York. I just can't live in New York anymore. Everything I hated about L.A. I'm beginning to crave. L.A. is a place where you live behind a gate, you get in a car, your interaction with the public is minimal. I used to hate that. But New York has changed. Manhattan is like Beverly Hills," he wrote.
Baldwin says he has a happy home for the first time in his adult life. He says he's considering Los Angeles, living insulated behind a gate with his wife and their child.
