Tornado watch cancelled for New Jersey

A tornado watch which was in effect for Hunterdon, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean and Somerset counties has been cancelled.

The watch is in effect for Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean and Somerset counties until 5 p.m.

The tornado watch also covers portions of South Jersey and Southeast Pennsylvania.

A front will be moving through the area this afternoon with strong thunderstorms. Primary threats from these storms include potential tornadoes and damaging wind gusts to 70 m.p.h.

A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions.
