James Blackwell took his Lincoln navigator to a car wash on Atlantic Avenue in Crown Heights on Sunday to get all the sand and salt off his SUV. Instead of a clean wash he is now caught in the middle of a deadly accident.

The worker who was going to do the finishing details drying and wiping was killed as the car came out of the automated rails.

"All of a sudden I heard a big bang. I came out and said 'oh no, this is my car'," said Blackwell.

Accident investigators believe the Navigator collided with an oncoming Nissan on Atlantic Avenue, ejecting in the worker who was apparently struck and killed.

Eyewitnesses say the Lincoln continued traveling down Atlantic Avenue by itself until it finally hit a hydrant a block away.

The owner of the vehicle was inside paying for the wash when the accident occurred.

Eyewitness News is told the people inside the Nissan were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The owner of the Lincoln, meanwhile, fears he won't get his vehicle for a couple of days as experts try to figure out exactly what went wrong.
