Driver of stolen car crashes into Newark liquor store

The driver of a car stolen in Elizabeth crashed into a liquor store in Newark.

The driver of a car stolen in Elizabeth crashed into a liquor store in Newark.

The driver lost control and veered into the front of Royal Liquors II on Frelinghuysen Avenue just after 4 a.m. Thursday.

The driver, who had to be extricated from the vehicle, was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries

Police were apparently attempting to pull the car over when it crashed.

The crash caused extensive damage to the liquor store, and the Buildings Department will evaluate its structural integrity.
