The fire was reported around 1:00 p.m. at 12 Ashburton Place in Yonkers, Westchester County.
14 fire companies and 65 firefighters responded. The fire started in the middle building of 3 two story attached wood framed buildings.
According to officials, the flames started in middle building by roofer working with hot torches.
The fire then spread to the two on either side through the attics.
Authorities say the middle building is a total loss, but the other two might be salvageable.
All the residents escaped the fire without injury.
Three firefighters sustained minor injuries when they slipped and fell on ice.
