Pedestrian safety on Park Avenue

Bill Ritter's daily take on the news.

Maybe that 65-year-old woman who was killed when a cab ran a red light in East Harlem will not have died in vain. Maybe.

The Community Board there has long complained about pedestrian safety on Park Ave. between 102nd and 111th streets. Now they're asking that the sidewalks at those intersections be extended so people can stand away from the intersections ? which are dangerous because the signals are often hidden from view.

Josh Einiger - who raised these safety questions earlier this week after that deadly crash - is there tonight at 11, with some possible safety solutions.

We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Meteorologist Lee Goldberg's AccuWeather, and Rob Powers with the night's sports. I hope you can join Sade Baderinwa and me, tonight at 11.
