A New Jersey dry cleaners left its customers high and dry by closing up shop with their belongings still inside.

"I lost my shirt at casino but never at dry cleaners," said customer Rick Thul.

Thul still has a sense of humor but not his seven shirts.

Marcia Pineda is out comforters and winter coats and the $150 she prepaid.

"I need it now. My comforters and everything is in there," said Pineda.

Any Garment Cleaners on Route 22 in North Plainfield New Jersey closed its doors without warning a few days ago, leaving all its dry cleaning customers confused and angry.

Thelma Wilson is among many upset customers.

"My grandson's suits are there. He's on the debate team. Meet on Saturday suits are in there. Horrible," said Wilson.

"We called police to open the doors, but were told they are not going to get involved, said customer Marissa Hyman.

Indeed when we arrived there was a note on the front door telling customers not to call the police but to contact 7 On Your Side, which many did.

Inside the store, you can see racks of clothes ready to go, piles of unwashed clothes, and boxes of old receipts.

I spoke to the owner's bankruptcy attorney who assured me all this will be returned to the rightful owners.

Plans are to open the store this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 9:30 to 5 so customers can finally get their belongings back.

There are now new fliers notifying customers when to pick up their clothes.

Someone from the landlord's office told us the owner hasn't paid his rent in almost a year.
