Calls came in from Bay Shore, West Islip and North Babylon Sunday afternoon. Callers reported groups of people on motorcycles, dirt bikes and ATVs driving recklessly.
Police say they were speeding, running red lights, and swerving in and out of oncoming traffic.
Callers reported 20-50 cyclists driving recklessly in Bayshore, West Islip and North Babylon between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday.
Along with the arrests on various charges from the 911 calls, officers issued numerous tickets and summonses for vehicle and traffic law violations.
Those arrested include: Tikret Cekic, 23, of Brooklyn, charged with Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer after he drove through a red light on Pine Aire Drive in Bay Shore at a high rate of speed in an attempt to flee from officers.
Thomas Palacios, 35, of Bay Shore, charged with Driving Under the Influence after he operated an ATV on Pine Aire Drive and Washington Avenue in Bay Shore while under the influence of alcohol.
Matthew Valentino, 25, of East Quogue, charged with Reckless Driving after he was observed driving recklessly on Udall Road in Baywood at a high rate of speed and swerving in and out of on-coming traffic causing other vehicles to swerve off the roadway to avoid him.
In addition, police say they arrested more than 30 people and issued field appearance tickets for trespassing after cyclists gathered on their bikes behind the Suffolk County Department of Social Services building in Bay Shore.
