Superstorm Sandy destroyed the 219th Street playground.
Members of the community are teaming up with Disney volunteers and Kaboom, a national non-profit devoted to giving kids the chance to play.
Together they are building a new playground in less than eight hours, based on drawings by children.
The new playground is one of dozens made possible with support from Disney, the parent company of ABC.
Breezy Point was hit hard by Sandy, with most of the area underwater, homes suffering extensive flooding, and many residents losing everything in their basements and first floors.
Over 170 homes destroyed by the storm in the community are being demolished. 111 homes burned to the ground.
The site for the playground is within close proximity to the beach, and it will serve about 6,500 children annually.
