Police are looking for a man they say tried to rape a woman inside her Brooklyn apartment, and they're hoping surveillance video will lead to an arrest.

The incident happened just after midnight on Sunday, September 8.

"He hit me, but surprisingly it didn't hurt," the victim said.

It was a fight with possible rapist, when this 21-year-old woke up to a strange man in her bed in her first floor apartment, and the adrenaline kicked in.

"There was a struggle and I got out of the room. When I got back into my room the window was open and he was gone," the victim said.

Gone, after this 21-year-old realized he wasn't that much bigger than her and gave him a run for his money. And police believe they spotted him in a surveillance video.

It happened about half past midnight Sunday morning near the intersection on Leonard and Metropolitan Avenues in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

"I came home, then I fell asleep. When I woke up there was a guy in my room, his hand over my mouth," the victims said.

She says he hit her when she tried to scream, they struggled some more and then she eventually overpowered him.

"My right to privacy should not be compromised because I didn't have curtains on the first night that I spent in my apartment. And my right to being a person shouldn't be compromised about that," the victim said.

Police returned to the were back on the scene Wednesday afternoon where nearby business owners say they told police they saw a man matching the description hanging out near the scene earlier that day.

"The guy was driving the bike; he took off and went down to the corner," said Mario Zollo, a business owner.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-7, last seen wearing a white T-shirt with a design on the left shoulder.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
