A Fire Department spokesman says a fire at the Kruser-Finley House in the historic Richmond Town on Staten Island was reported at about 4:40 p.m. Wednesday. He says there has so far been no determination as to what caused the fire. He says it took firefighters about an hour to get the fire under control.
Calls to the Historic Richmond Town and museum were not returned Wednesday night. The group's website says Richmond Town was an early colonial village and that the Kruser-Finley House was constructed in 1790. It says it was occupied by craftsmen in the early 1800s and named after the two families who lived there the longest.
