New York City bus drivers to rally against new wave of violence

New York City bus drivers are fighting back against a new wave of attacks.

Union leaders and MTA drivers rallied utside the MTA's Brooklyn offices Thurday afternoon.

In the past two weeks, two bus drivers have been stabbed and slashed, and a third was punched and robbed.

The Transit Workers Union is calling for better protection of its members.

Twu Local 100 president John Samuelsen, the recent victims and scores of other bus operators were on hand to voice their concern for passengers and their own safety.

The most recent attack happened last week at East 148th Street and Third Avenue in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx, on a bus that had no surveillance cameras.

The driver was stabbed in the left hand with a pocket knife.

Two weeks ago, a driver was slashed on the arm by a passenger, while another female driver was slugged in the face before the suspect made off with her purse.
