Reopening officially, "Nathan's", still at the corner of Surf and Stillwell, is not just marking the Memorial Day weekend and the start of summer, but the comeback from Sandy.
The damage to "Nathan's" was extensive and costly.
Equipment was swimming in six feet of sea water and nobody was sitting there having a hotdog, not for a while.
"What we're attempting to do is recreate the atmosphere here, the historic feeling, tradition and heritage of Nathan's so that it's the same has it always has been," said Wayne Norbitz, President & CEO of "Nathan's".
"Nathan's" is also bringing back the famous clam bar which was there up until the 1950's.
All you have to do is order up a couple of nice oysters or little neck claims. Richie Grosso remembers it.
"Everything was on ice. It was ice cold. I was a little young for it, but I remember it like it was yesterday," Grosso said.
It's not just about the oysters, clams and hotdogs. There are even frogs' legs!
What's good for "Nathan's" is good for Coney Island.
Now if you're lucky enough to come from out of town, then you had better take big bite of goodness.
