Complications related to the flu may have caused the death of a child in the northwest suburbs.

The child was a sixth grader at Centennial Elementary School in Bartlett.

Health officials are urging people to know the symptoms of the flu and keep children home if they are sick.

Also, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and wash your hands often with soap and water.

They also say it is not too late to get vaccinated, since flu season can last through May.
