The NYPD is searching for a sex crime suspect on the loose in Brooklyn, and they're hoping surveillance video will lead to a quick arrest.

Police say the man in the video tried to rape a woman as she left a subway station last Thursday night.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. at the Bedford-Nostrand Avenue station on the G line.

Police say the man offered to help the 21-year-old woman get her bags to the street then attacked her on a stairway.

She screamed, and he fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 5-foot-9 and weighing 150 to 160 pounds.

The surveillance video shows the suspect at the Hoyt and Schermerhorn Street subway station.

Anyone with information in regards to this attempted rape is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
