Cyclists pedal in memory of Sandy Hook victims

They are called "Team 26" - each one of the cyclists is pushing the pedals in memory of the lives lost at Sandy Hook Elementary on December 14th.

Chris McDonnell helped competitive cyclist Monte Frank design the team shirts. "Hope Peace & Love" is written on the bottom. Frank's daughter had Victoria Soto as a teacher.

"She was a great teacher, and she's missed," says Frank. After a celebrated send-off, the cyclists will spend 4 days on the road, trekking to the U.S. Capitol, and urging a new law on guns, including mandatory background checks in all firearm sales, and the elimination of high-capacity magazines.

"We wanted to be remembered for not the town that suffered the unspeakable tragedy, but for a town that rose from tragedy and tried to make a difference in the world," adds Frank.

A difference Chris McDonnell hopes they can achieve.

"I ride for love, the love of the innocence, and beauty of a child whose life was so full of dreams and boundless possibilities," McDonnell says, "I ride for Grace."

The cyclists covered about 100 miles on Saturday, and are scheduled to arrive in Washington on Wednesday.
