4-year anniversary of the 'Miracle on the Hudson'

January 15, 2013 3:38:11 AM PST
Tuesday marks the four-year anniversary of the Miracle on the Hudson, when U.S. Airways Flight 1549 ended up in the river after multiple bird strikes.

The incident happened just minutes after the plane took off from LaGuardia Airport and struck the flock of geese.

The aircraft now sits in a Charlotte, North Carolina, air museum, propped up inside a hangar.

A display features the battered plane and items pulled from the wreckage.

Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and co-pilot Jeff Skiles were in the cockpit and guided the aircraft into the water after they realized they could not make it to nearby Teteroboro or any other airport.

Everyone on board survived.

Sullenberger will be a guest on "Katie" Tuesday. You can watch it at 3 p.m. on Channel 7.
