Up Close: Sandy Aid

January 6, 2013 8:55:36 AM PST
Lawmakers from the tri-state area were outraged this week over a delay in voting on a bill to provide relief for victims of superstorm Sandy.

The House finally approved the first part of the package on Friday: $9 billion for flood insurance claims.

The larger bill, for another $51 billion in aid, comes up for a vote January 15th.

Rep. Peter King of Long Island blasted House Speaker John Boehner and some of his other fellow Republicans for initially delaying the vote on funding for Sandy recovery.

We caught up with Rep. King moments after the House vote.

Also this week, with former MTA Chairman Joe Lhota considering a run for mayor, the Republican field just got more crowded and interesting.

We'll talk with three Republican county chairs about who they're supporting.

And, the president and Congress averted the fiscal cliff, but almost everyone is going to have pay more in taxes.

We'll tell you what you need to know before you file.
