Possible plea deal coming in elevator burning death

October 18, 2012 3:46:08 AM PDT
The man who admitted burning an elderly woman to death in a Brooklyn elevator is expected to accept a plea deal that could mean decades in prison.

Authorities say 48-year-old Jerome Isaac ambushed 73-year-old Delores Gillespie as she stepped off the elevator in her Prospect Heights apartment building in December.

He allegedly spayed her with gasoline and used a barbecue lighter to set her ablaze. He came away from the murder with severe burns across his face.

Gillespie had reportedly hired Isaac to do odd jobs, but was forced to fire him after she caught him stealing.

The New York Post reports that Isaac will be offered 50 years to life in exchange for pleading guilty to murder and arson.
