And the winner...

Bill Ritter's daily take on the news.

So who won you ask? Martha Raddatz, our ABC News colleague. That's the obvious answer.

As for the Veep candidates - the bigger issue is that there were no major gaffes, and Joe Biden performed like Democrats had hoped his boss would have done last week.

It certainly was a lively affair - an old-fashioned verbal slugfest. Yes Joe Biden smiled too much and appeared a bit condescending, and yes Paul Ryan was often non-specific about his and Mitt Romney's proposals, but each man was engaged and focused. Does sitting down help keep things more lively and centered? I'm just sayin'.

We'll have the latest from the campaign trail, tonight at 11.

We'll have any breaking news of the night, plus Meteorologist Lee Goldberg's weekend AccuWeather forecast, and Rob Powers with the night's sports, including the Yankees' bid to make it into the next round of the playoffs. We'll know the results by 11.

I hope you can join Sade Baderinwa and me, tonight at 11, right after 20/20.
