Alex Burgos helped organize Sunday's fundraiser at the Ice Lounge, where 22-year-old Noel Polanco worked part time.

Family and friends had to light the candles under an umbrella to keep the flames alive, but their outrage needed no help.

Noel Polanco left the Ice Lounge last Thursday morning before he was fatally shot by a NYPD detective on the Grand Central Parkway. Polanco was driving Dianne di Ferrari and her friend home.

Di Ferrari admits Polanco was weaving in and out of traffic before he was stopped by police, ut she argues that was no reason to kill an unarmed drive.

As police protect the officer's House in Centereach, Long Island there is still no word on why the detective shot the young man. Polanco worked two jobs to support his mother and younger sister and was also a member of the New York National Guard.

A collection was taken at the door, and a portion of the bar's receipts from Sunday will be given to Palanco's mother to help cover the cost of his funeral, however nothing could possibly compensate for his life lost.
