The New York Festival is sure to end with a thrill!Recently the Film Society of Lincoln Center made the first major announcement about the festival's highly anticipated lineup: It will close with the world premiere Flight by Robert Zemeckis on Oct. 14 at Alice Tully Hall.

The film marks the first live-action filmmaking for Zemeckis since since shooting Cast Away 12 years ago. It stars Denzel Washington as a pilot who saves nearly all his passengers after a nearly miraculous crash landing, unravelling a complex and thrilling mystery. The star-studded cast includes supporting roles played by John Goodman, Don Cheadle, Melissa Leo and Kelly Reilly.

"We're delighted to welcome Robert Zemeckis to the New York Film Festival for the first time. A director equally known for delighting audiences as well as for pushing the technological limits of filmmaking, Zemeckis has created with Flight a remarkable film about one man's journey to some of the darkest parts of his soul," Richard Pe?a, NYFF Selection Committee chair and Film Society of Lincoln Cener program director, said in a statement.

General Public tickets for the NYFF will be available on Sunday, Sept. 9. There will be a pre-sale ticketing period for film society patrons and members before that date. More information on festival ticketing can be found here.
