Climb all day at Brooklyn Boulders

It looks like interest in rock climbing in New York City is soaring.

There is a dearth of natural mountains in the city, but in Brooklyn it seems that a man-made one keeps growing.

At Brooklyn Boulders the youngest climbers are about 3 years old and that goes all the way up to folks in their 80s.

"We didn't have a place to climb," Lance Pinn said.

So Pinn and his partner built a place in Brooklyn and they've doubled the size since they opened in 2009 to 18,000 square feet.

There's lots of room to boulder, and if you prefer to belay and stay tethered, you can do so for days on end.

It's a great workout too.

Brooklyn Boulders is housed in a former Daily News garage and some of the climbing walls pay tribute to the borough's iconic bridge.

They'll teach you how to enjoy the slack line or how to climb.

Kids have to be at least 35 pounds to start.

On average, 1,000 people climb a day and many of them not even from the area.

A day pass at Brooklyn Boulders just $22 and it's open 7 days a week.
