Black licorice can cause high blood pressure

October 31, 2011 6:53:48 PM PDT
The F.D.A. says people 40 and older should be careful about eating too much black licorice.

Researchers say if you eat more than two ounces of black licorice every day for two weeks, it can cause potassium levels to plunge, leading to high blood pressure and an irregular heartbeat.

As the holiday season starts, remember that enjoying some candy should not come at the expense of your long-term health.
