Search for attempted child rapist in Manhattan

Police in Manhattan are searching for a child predator who tried to rape a little girl.

Police released surveillance images of the man.

They say he lured a 12-year-old girl into an empty office inside a building on West 44th Street in Midtown on Tuesday afternoon.

Once inside, he pulled out a pair of scissors and tried to rape her, but fortunately she was able to escape and call police.

The suspect is described as a white man, /50 to 60 years of age. He is approximately 5'9" and 180-200 lbs. He is bald and was wearing black shorts, a dark long sleeved shirt and was carrying a backpack.
