Cops seek suspects in robbery where Bible stolen

August 17, 2011 2:37:04 PM PDT
Investigators are looking for three or four suspects wanted in a string of robberies, including one in which they stole a man's bible. The three young men jumped 63 year old Luis Rosario as he went in his building at 2100 Creston Avenue.

"When I coming in they grab like this and then we go over to camera," he said.

He tried to position himself so that the surveillance camera would catch everything. They took his cell phone, 65 dollars and a small black case. When they went for his wallet they ripped his pants to shreds.

"I don't know what to say," Rosario said.

Mr. Rosario admits he is still shaken and sore from the attack and he is most upset about that black case that was stolen because inside was his 10 year old bible, one he read every day. He showed us another: one he usually keeps at home.

"I think they think there was money in there or something," he said.

Neighbors are disgusted by this brazen attack on a hard working 63 year old, returning from his overnight shift.

Mr. Rosario is confident people around here know these young men and will turn them in. In the meantime, he says he's praying for them.

"You go away from Jesus you have problems. That is what's wrong with this country. No bible. No nothing," Rosario said.

The suspects are wanted for two other robberiesat East 181st Street and Creston Avenue on July 23 and August 3.
