The car was parked on Sutter Avenue near Saratoga Avenue.
At around 6:15pm, Wednesday, shots were fired and the back window of the vehicle was blown out.
Assemblyman Boyland and his 7-year-old son were inside the vehicle at the time but were not hit.
"The first shot, everybody sort of ducks, and the second shot blew out the back window, the third shot got into the car, hit the belt buckle on the passenger side," said Boyland.
On March 10th, Boyland was among eight individuals who surrendered to face charges in a federal corruption case accusing the lawmakers of taking bribes. State Senator Carl Kruger was the headliner of the group.
He has also recently been accused of playing a Facebook game called CityVille during Assembly sessions. He has apparently updated posts as many as 12 times during a single session.
Boyland also came under fire in his own district for driving past a prayer vigil for 13-year-old Kira Goddard, who was struck and killed by a runaway vehicle in Brownsville last month.
The family says the Assemblyman honked his car horn and waved toward mourners without stopping and paying respect.
Boyland assumed office in a special election held in 2003. His father and uncle also served in the Assembly.
So far, there are no arrests in the shooting.
