June 29, 2011 9:10:56 AM PDT
Authorities are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case of a kitten thrown from a car window on Long Island.

Roy Gross, chief of the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, called the June 8 incident in Amityville "a horrible act of animal cruelty."

The 9-week-old black kitten, named Beetle, suffered broken legs.

Gross said that the male cat was treated at the North Shore Animal League in Port Washington and is recovering with a foster family.

The suspect could face felony animal cruelty charges.

Anyone with information is asked to call the SPCA at 631 382-7722. All calls will be kept confidential.
