Mom, boy speak out about bullying incident

The mother of a 10-year-old boy who was brutally bullied for months is speaking out against the school in New Rochelle.

The image is jarring, a 10-year-old boy wearing a mask straight out of a bad horror movie, but for Brandonn Baez it's doctor's orders: the plastic helps protect his face which was pummeled by a classmate.

The ugly incident happened last Thursday during recess at Trinity Elementary School in New Rochelle.

Brandonn suffered a broken nose and loosened teeth and he was covered in blood.

Only one student punched him, but Brandonn says he's been bullied by two students for three months.

Brandon's mother blames administrators.

She says she met with school staff several times, telling them her son was being bullied.

Carmen Baez says nothing was done.

In a statement the school superintendent writes: "We deeply regret this incident that occurred at one of our schools. As a district, we are deeply committed to the safety and well-being of all our students. Trinity plans to implement an anti-bullying policy next year."

Brandon's grandmother, a former New York City Council member plans to take it one step further.

"If I have to be there come September, every day and speak to every parent and let them know that bullying is not cool and talk to you children and look for the signs, I will," said Maria Baez, Brandonn's grandmother.
