Are you looking to get your family a pet or just have some extra love to spread around?

A pet adoptathon will be held over the weekend on Long Island.

North Shore Animal League America will open its doors in Port Washington, NY on Saturday for its 17th Annual, 36-hour adoption event, Pet Adoptathon 2011.

More than 700 puppies, kittens, dogs and cats will all be looking to become a part of a loving home at the event.

The adoptathon will have plenty of activities for the entire family including the opening ceremony with General Hospital's Carolyn Hennesy, a recent Animal League adopter, who will be cutting the ceremonial ribbon.

Kids can enjoy Sunday's festivities with Super Bowl Champ Jarvis Green, who will be hosting a "Fitness Fun" event.
