Blood drive in honor of Paramus officer

A blood drive is being held in honor of a critically injured Paramus police officer.

Paramus Police Officer Rachel Morgan was shot late Sunday night.

She remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Authorities say Morgan was shot after arriving at a snow bank where 23-year-old Michael Carmody had crashed his car.

Carmody was shot several times by another officer who came to Morgan's aid.

He died Wednesday afternoon at a Paterson hospital after being removed from life support.

The blood drive is being held at the Paramus Volunteer Ambulance Corps. on Tuesday. February 15th from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Paramus Volunteer Ambulance Corps is located at 295 East Midland Avenue in Paramus, New Jersey.

Donors are asked to bring an ID with a signature.

You must also weigh over 110 lbs and be in general good health.

There are also free cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, and hemoglobin screenings with every donation.
