The pictures show the deplorable condition of the apartment in Williamsburg where about 100 cats were hoarded.
Police say Michael and Hazel Fiore kept the animals inside a filthy loft that was filled with feces and cat carcasses.
Investigators from the ASPCA and the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals conducted an investigation at the location after five kittens fell through the floorboards, which were rotted, to the loft below.
Two of those kittens were blind from an eye infection and another kitten had to have an eye removed. The cats were infested with fleas, and many of them had trouble breathing and had upper respiratory infections. Many also had eye infections, and some had no eyes at all. Most of the cats' teeth were missing, and some were dehydrated, emaciated and in poor health. Many had to be euthanized.
The couple faces up to two years in prison if convicted of animal hoarding charges.
