Infections and alcohol could raise stroke risk

Researchers in France studied how drinking alcohol or contracting the flu can trigger your chances of having a stroke.

The researchers found that people who downed three to four drinks tripled their risk of having a stroke over the next 24 hours.

They also say contracting an infection like the flu also ups the risk of stroke three fold.

Scientists think alcohol could cause heart problems that could dislodge a blood clot, and infections can inflame blood vessels, which can lead to stroke.
