The primary race is getting a lot tougher Monday for State Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada.

His opponents are joining forces against him.

One of Espada's two challengers has withdrawn and thrown his support to the other, Gustavo Rivera.

Unions and elected officials across the state are also giving strong support to Rivera.

Polls showed Espada winning a three-way race. But going one-to-one against Rivera, it's a tie.
