John is an aerobatic pilot, an admitted flying junkie. His passion is entertaining a crowd.
From the ground, his nine and half minute performance can look like unscripted chaos, but john compares his routine to that of a figure skater. Every loop, every dive is practiced and precise.
He took me up for a few loops and rolls. Parachutes are mandatory for all aero-batic fliers. The small plane can top 250 miles and hour.
Up in the air, an on-board camera records the flight from inside the cockpit. Within no time, we were literally upside down.
For John, this is just another chance to practice, something he does routinely before every show, a few barrel rolls and a 3-G loop that I imagine is like riding the cyclone at Coney Island.
I was feeling a bit green at the end. John of course was just fine.
This weekend, John will go full throttle wowing the crowds at the air show at Jones Beach.
