They hosted a drive for the New York Blood Center on short notice in the blue room at City Hall.
Center officials estimate that because of the storm, some 1,500 donations were not made.

It has been providing safe, adequate and reliable blood supply to almost 200 hospitals, serving 20 million people, in greater New York since 1964.
