Fire destroys Bronx stores

October 31, 2009 9:17:27 PM PDT
As far as fire go, this one in the Bronx was pretty spectacular. Firefighters battled a solid wall of flames for over four hours.

A commercial strip was completely destroyed early Saturday morning.

The structure on 205th Street and Bainbridge Avenue in the Norwood section was just one building divided into 14 stores.

As the flames spread along the common roof, the fire grew to five alarms.

For some the loss is extra painful. In April, there was a fire in the bakery. It had just reopened last week. The fire department says whatever's left will have to be torn down.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.
